Anyone moving into a new home
Move-In Cleaning Checklist for a New Home
What to clean before your belongings arrive, so your first night in a new place starts fresh.
Clean before you unpack
The window between getting the keys and moving the boxes in is the best time to clean. Every surface is reachable, and you are not working around furniture or unpacked belongings.
Priority order
- Kitchen cabinets, drawers and shelves before anything goes inside them
- Bathrooms, including fixtures, tub and shower
- Closets and storage areas
- Baseboards, door frames, switches and handles
- Floors throughout, cleaned last
Easy to forget
- Inside the refrigerator and freezer
- Inside the oven and the microwave
- Washer and dryer exteriors and seals
- Window sills and tracks
- Vent covers and light fixtures
Booking tip
Book a move-in clean for one or two days before your move date whenever the schedule allows, and mention elevator or loading-bay bookings — buildings often restrict access windows.
