Tenants and homeowners moving out
Move-Out Cleaning Checklist for Metro Vancouver Renters
A room-by-room list of what usually gets inspected when you hand back the keys, and how to plan the clean around your move date.
Plan the timing first
A move-out clean is easiest once the property is empty, so book it for after the truck leaves and before your final walkthrough. If your key handover is at noon, an empty-property clean the day before is usually the safest choice.
Kitchen
- Cabinet and drawer interiors, wiped and dried
- Countertops, backsplash and sink
- Appliance exteriors, plus interiors where requested
- Range hood and stovetop surface
- Floors, including under where appliances sit
Bathrooms
- Tub, shower, glass and tile
- Toilet, inside and out
- Sink, counter, mirror and fixtures
- Cabinet and vanity interiors
- Floors and baseboards
Every other room
- Closet shelves and interiors
- Baseboards, door frames and light switches
- Interior windows and window sills where offered
- Marks and dust on walls, spot cleaned
- Floors vacuumed and mopped last
What to tell your cleaner
Share the property size, the number of bathrooms, whether it will be empty, parking or elevator booking details, and your key handover time. Those five details are what a move-out quote is built on.
