Post-Construction Cleaning: What Happens After the Trades Leave
Why construction dust needs more than one pass, and how renovation cleanup is normally staged.
Construction dust settles more than once
Fine drywall and sanding dust stays airborne long after the work stops, then settles on every horizontal and vertical surface. That is why post-construction cleaning is usually staged rather than done in a single pass.
A typical staging
- Rough clean: light debris removed, bulk dust knocked down
- Detail clean: surfaces, cabinetry, fixtures, frames and glass
- Final clean: floors and a last pass once dust has settled again
What to confirm before quoting
- Square footage and number of levels
- Whether trades are fully finished
- Amount and type of debris left on site
- Site power, water and lighting availability
- Access, parking and permitted working hours
Cleaning only
Post-construction cleaning is a cleaning service. It does not include construction, demolition, repairs, or removal of heavy or hazardous material — that scope stays with the trades.
